The Oakland Raiders were founded in 1960, and are currently based in Oakland, California. However, NFL team owners voted nearly unanimously to approve the Raiders' application to relocate from Oakland to Las Vegas, Nevada. The Raiders plan to remain in Oakland through 2018 – and possibly 2019 – and relocate to Las Vegas in either 2019 or 2020, depending on the completion of the team's planned new stadium.

It'll be strange when the Raiders eventually pack their bags and leave to "Sin City" Las Vegas. The Raiders have some of the most dedicated fans in Oakland, who will be devastated when the team leaves. But if you were to pick any team that fits the flambuoyancy and mentality of Vegas, then it'd defenitely be the Raiders. Luckily for Oakland fans, their current crop of players is stacked with talent, especially on offence. So hopefully the team can give it's residents a memorable leaving present before saying goodbye in the next couple of years.

Roster

Head Coach: Jack Del Rio

The end of the 2016 campaign didn't reflect the Raiders organisation's status within the league. Oakland is a legitimate Super Bowl contender with Derek Carr at quarterback and Khalil Mack terrorising opposing offenses. Now, add Marshawn Lynch into the mix. As long as his carries are closely monitored, Beast Mode adds a completely different component, and he should thrive behind a top-three offensive line. The defense is still a concern, but the unit has the ability to improve upon last year's 26th-ranked effort.

OFFENCE

The Raiders boast one of the best offenses in the entire NFL. They are loaded. Last year they finished in the top 10 for most categories. They finished 6th in rushing, and now they have added Oakland native and running back legend Marshawn Lynch, aka Beast Mode. Even Seahawks fans must be happy to see their former superstar come out of retirement to play for his hometown team. If he's anywhere near the old player he was, then look out. The offensive line is great, as are the receiving duo Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. They should be fun to watch.

DEFENCE

Oakland rely far too heavily on their superstar Kalil Mack. Mack is an absolute moster, who can lineup on the line or as a linebacker. He's the first ever player to be elected to the pro bowl at both defensive end and outside linebacker in the SAME year. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year is the defence's most productive player and gets most of the sacks. However, as good as Mack is, he can't do it all by himself. The Raiders have added a few nice pieces to this unit in the draft, especially in the secondary with CB Gareon Conley and S Obi Melifonwu.

MVP

Derek Carr, QB

A strong case could be made that defensive star Kalil Mack is the MVP for this team, but last seasons capitulation proves that Carr is the most important player for this team to have success. When Carr broke his leg right at the end of the season, you could feel Raider fans' hearts drop. All fight and momentum went out of the team heading into the playoffs, where they were easily dismantled by the Texans.

Carr is one of the best young QBs in the game. Some experts have predicted that he'll actually be the league MVP this year after an outstanding 2016 campaign. Considering all the pieces Carr has around him, it's easy to see why there is so much hype surronding him. Carr plays with a maturity beyond his years. The Raiders have definitely found their franchise QB for the next decade.

Other notable players: RB - Marshawn Lynch. WR - Amari Cooper. WR - Michael Crabtree. TE - Jared Cook Jr. DE/PLB - Kalil Mack. OLB - Bruce Irvin. CB - Gareon Conley (R).
