Team Finder

The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team's Super Bowl victory on January 11, 1970, remains the club's last championship game victory and appearance to date, and occurred in the final such competition prior to the leagues' merger coming into full effect.

The Chiefs have been very good for a few years now, but they almost seem to go unnoticed. They clinched the AFC West last season, but sadly went out in the divisional round of the playoffs to the Steelers. This team is built to win now. There's no question about that. Andy Reid has done excellent job of assembling a strong unit at every aspect of the game. This could be the year the Chiefs go all the way back to the promised land. Everyone better take notice this time around.

Head Coach: Andy Reid

The Chiefs have been the NFL's second-most successful team in recent seasons behind only the New England Patriots. This speaks to the job Andy Reid's coaching staff has done and the overall talent found on the roster. It's not a flashy group, yet the Chiefs are difficult to handle. Alex Smith is criminally underrated. Tyreek Hill will be a bigger part of the offense in his second season. The defense remains the league's most aggressive. The organisation may be looking toward its future when it traded up in the draft's first round to select Patrick Mahomes, but this is a team still capable of winning many games.

The drafting of future QB Pat Mahomes could be exactly the fire current starter Alex Smith needed to prove the doubters wrong. Smith has unfairly been labelled as a "game manager", mainly because he prefers to control the ball without throwing too many risky passes. The offence has the potential to be very explosive this term. There seems to be playmakers everywhere you look, from last season's rookie x-factor sensation Tyreek Hill, to the second best tight end in the NFL, Travis Kelce. Hill especially has to be accounted for. He's almost a jack of all trades with his ability not only as a receiver, but also as a deadly return man.

Kansas City has one of the best defences in the league, but they allowed far too many yards last year, especially when you consider the talent they possess. Importantly though, they managed to shut up shop, by being the leagues 7th best defence in terms of points allowed. They boast talent across the board. The secondary is led by star safety Eric Berry, and out on the corner is one of the league best young DBs in Marcus Peters, who has an uncanny knack for picking off quarterbacks. They also have a great linebacking group with stars Justin Houston and Tamba Hali constantly harrassing the opposing line.

Eric Berry, S

2015's Comeback player of the year Eric Berry is one of the league's best safeties. It's hard not to route for Berry, considering he battled and overcame cancer, and came back to still be the same dominant player that he was before. Berry has made the pro bowl 5 out of 7 seasons that he's played, which is remarkable considering he missed an entire year when he was battling cancer.

Berry, or "EB" as he's referred to by his teammates, is the heart and soul of not only the defence, but the whole team. His leadership and attitude is second to none, and he playes with more bite and intelligence than most. Berry is in his prime right now, so Chiefs will be hoping he can stay injury free and help the team push deeper into the playoffs.

Other notable players: QB - Alex Smith. RB - Kareem Hunt (R). WR - Tyreek Hill. TE - Travis Kelce. DE- Chris Jones. OLB - Tamba Hali. OLB - Justin Houston. LB - Derrick Johnson. CB - Marcus Peters.
